The Scholarly Warrior is a podcast about warriors and warfare throughout the ages. It is an examination of historical warriors, warrior culture, and the warrior ethic. Not only will we discuss history’s greatest warriors, but also the gear they carried, the castles and strongpoints they defended, and the battlefields they fought on. We will also consider intangibles like fighting spirit, morals, and even warrior spirituality. The Scholarly Warrior will be an eclectic mix of topics covering everything from Aztec armies to Sparta Hoplites and from the Little Big Horn to Helmand Province. We will examine the military experience from the earliest recorded conflict to the latest armed incursion.
The Scholarly Warrior will delve into the past through interviews with learned authors from Osprey and other publishers of military history. Diving deep into their books, scrutinizing details about and perhaps finding further historical gems through the interview process… It is our hope to use the author’s insights and knowledge to bring those warriors to life, to understand their motivations and to uncover lessons that may be applied to our everyday life.
